What kind of accommodation?

Along the GR20 trek, refuges and gites d’étapes offer basic accommodation and food. Whether they are wooden shepherds huts or stones constructions, they offer an inexpensive shelter at the end of each stage. They mark the start and finish of every étapes.

Refuges are run by Parc naturel régional de Corse, from June to September they are staffed by wardens (gardiens), most of them provide expensive supplies and prepare a meal in the evening. A refuge is equiped with bunk beds, offers the use of a well equipped kitchen, dining room and shower-toilet block (about 9.50€ per bed and 3-4.50€ per person for camping). Sleeping in tent nearby the refuges is possible, as it is not permitted along the trail.

Additionally there are a couple of private bergeries, gites and hotels along the trail that are generally more comfortable and more expensive. All the above apply to the season from June to September only. Although the PNRC refuges stay open all year round for safety, don't expect food, drinking water, heat and light in them between November and May.
